Poeta Alexandrinus, Hadriano Imperatori cum in Aegypto esset et Alexandriae versaretur, obtulit τὸν ῥοδίζοντα λωτὸν, lotum rosei coloris, eumque poeticâ adulatione dixit, tellurem tum nuper submississe, ex sanguine Maurusii leonis patum, quem in Libya Aegypto conterminâ ipse occiderat Adrianus: debere itaque eum florem Α᾿ντινόειον appellari. Quô Poetaeingenii et inventionis novitatedelectatus Imperator, illorum numero eum ascribi iussit, qui in Musaeo alerentur: Hincque non flori solum nomen, sed et coronas ex eo plexas Alexandrini vulgo Antinoeas appellare coeperunt, ab Antinoo, Hadriani puero delicato.
